Need some quick upgrades.

I have an 01 wrangler. I need new spark plugs and wires. What kind are the best? I'm switching to royal purple oil. Anything else? Come on. Let's hear some more.

To be honest, Id just stick with the stock stuff. But if you really wanted to change it out then look for some 8mm plug wires. MSD and ACCEL are pretty big names. Far as plugs, Bosch Irridium is pretty top of the line. But like I said, never had a problem with the good ol' stocker plug and wires.

Standard platinum plugs are fine, no need to get wires as your 01 has coil packs.

How many miles are on your 01?

Coil Packs...that explains it. I have looked a couple times for the wires on my 01 wrangler.

Your coil pack (distributorless) ignition system means you have to be a little more picky than usual about what spark plugs you install.

Any conventional non-platinum plug will work fine but if you want platinum, it MUST have the platinum coating on both sides of the gap. That is known as a "double-tipped" platinum plug. A platinum plug with the coating on just one side of the gap will eventually cause hard-to-diagnose problems with the engine. Jeep has a TSB out to cover such problems where they pull single-tipped platinum plugs out.

One known good plug for your ignition type is the Autolite APP985. Note there are TWO p's in that model which indicates it is a double-tipped platinum plug.

Avoid plugs like Splitfire or Bosch Plus2 or Plus4 plugs. Splitfires are just junk and the Bosch Plus2 and Plus4 plugs don't always run well in a Jeep engine.

There are other good quality double-tipped Platinum plugs but for sure, the Autolite APP985 will work well. Expect at least 90K miles out of them, the benefit to platinum plugs... 3X better life.
