Question Need Tech Advice About Rubicon Stickers

I just got a 2006 Jeep Rubicon last Monday and the guy who sold it to me took off all the Jeep Stickers. Apparently down in San Diego it is not wise to advertise the fact that you have a Rubicon....they tend to end up on the other side of the border, without you. So I ordered the new ones ($90)(ouch) and would like to put them in the same location as originally placed. Does anyone have the dimensions of where they (Rubicon) are located on the hood? Many thanks in advance for any information that will help accomplish this.

You can call a dealership or body shop. Either one of those should be able to point you in the right direction.

I already spoke to the dealership. The only advice they gave me was to find another one and measure it. Not the answer I was looking for but I will eventually figure it out.

Gads, $90.

I'd cancel the order and get them from this place for $24.75. Maybe they come with a template on location?

Richard

Oh really, that's kinda stupid. You paid $90 for your Rubi stickers? Quadratec has them for $24.99 each and for $7.00 @ Allthingsjeep.com. Sorry not to add pain to injury.

Ouch...I feel bad enough getting worked by my local dealer. I actually paid $28 for each Rubicon Sticker and $15 for each Jeep Sticker + Tax which came out to $90 something. A little too late to return them as they had to order them. I wanted the original color too.

Thanks to everyone with the links to where to get them cheaper

I still need some specs on where to have my friends bodyshop place them

What does the placement really matter?

It's not like your Jeep is 1968 Mustang Fastback and you need perfect placement for the national show this weekend.

Stick them on wherever you think they'll look good.

It sounds like you don't have them yet...if that's the case, you SHOULD get instructions and/or have the backing cut out to meet/match the location.

If not, you can follow Moz's advice, or if you have OCD (like me), come back at me and I'll go measure mine and send you the detail.

I wouldn't worry about overpaying for the OEM decals compared to aftermarket. I've bought a bunch of decals for old tractors and cars, OEM and aftermarket, and generally the OEM ones are much better quality. Even if they are all made in China the OEM's seem to come off a better assembly line. Your Jeep will look better. Just my $0.02.

Thanks, Hank1!!! You're $.02 has been the most valuable to me so far. At least it has felt that way.

Measurments

Ok,

From the front: Place your tape measure against the hood latch and come aft 9 3/8".

That will give you from the back of the "N" in Rubicon, 9 3/4" measured from the inside of the hood forward to the end of the N. So, it's centered between the back of the hood latch and the end of the fender.

From the bottom, place the tape ON the fender (it isn't consistent measuring from the bottom of the hood as the font gives different measurments) and get the bottom of the R and N (front to back) up 3/4".

Or, (it's a &^@ to measure) 1" down from the middle of the flair in the hood to the top of the letters. Easier to do it from the bottom and just get the thing about 3/4 up and level.

Hope this helps!

Thank You!!! Now I will just have to find the schematics to your directions and I think I will be just fine. I do think I can decipher your email and figure where to put these expensive little stickers. Thanks again for your efforts

Remember also, if these are like all other decals I've seen you apply them over a film of slightly soapy water. So you'll have a little bit of time to move them around if they don't line up right the first time. You just slide them into place. But the window for moving them is short. If you're lucky they'll come with a set of placement instructions. A good many OEM decals do. Take your time laying everything out and it'll go perfect.

No problem, looking at it now, how about I clarify a bit.

Center it front to back on the hood exactly halfway between the rear of the hood latch and the back of the hood where it meets the firewall.

My factory sticker follows the bottom of the hood line, not the roll in the hood where it starts to rollover and become horizontal across the hood. Exxentially, just get it about halfway between the bottom of the hood where it meets the fender and the top "line". Just follow the fender line as it is level and how the factory one is. About 3/4" above the bottom of the hood.

Thanks Hank1! I will definately look into this before I make any mistakes. I have this problem with perfection....I can imagine myself spending a day to do this simple task. Thanks again for the advice, mg

Thanks again Stevens243! I think between your measurements and a decent picture, I will get them in the correct position. I went to my local dealership with my trusty large megapixel camera but unfortunately could not find any TJ Rubicons, just a few JK Rubicons. Thanks again for all the help....I hope some day I can help someone on this forum. For now, I will just have to live with being the newbie!

No need to call the man stupid. I'm sure I can find many things I could rag on your rig about, but that would be me being a dick also.

In regards to the sticker thing though, it would be pretty cool having a Rubi with no stickers. It'd kind of be like having a real Cobra and people thinking it was a kit car.

Good luck with your placement. I sure know I wouldn't have the patience for it.
