Need to get rid of the manual trans can it be done

I have a 2004 tj I want to put a auto in it can it be done?

Easiest thing would be to trade it in on a similar Jeep w/ the trans you want! No sense in going to all the trouble cutting one up that new!

Of course it can. Best bet is to search the internet.

Took 30 seconds and found:
this YJ link (it is for a YJ, but should give some basics)
this XJ link (for an XJ (I think), but again should give good info)

Just keep looking...
