New 1.5 Din Head Unit With All The Bells & Whistles

And it is available.

Found this after an exhaustive google search and I am considering moving on this.

The dimensions are exactly the same as my single din conversion from Quadratec and it appears to be available with correct 2 plug harness.

1999 - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge, Chrysler Car DVD Player with in-dash Navigation System

Here is the dimension picture: http://www.autodvdgps.com/images/jep...kee_gps_09.jpg

That is nice looking but it's about 3 times as much as my cheap butt is willling to spend on something going into a jeep that has no top or doors for 9 months out of the year!

Interesting it lists 2003-2005 wrangler.....and not a 2006. Curious.

I would go for it. I have a 400 dollar single din kenwood with nav. Blue tooth and all that crap. I would not be afraid to put anything expensive in my jeep. I also don't park it for long periods of time where I can't see it. I always carry a firearm on me and have a paging system with proximity sensor in the heep. I have had to pull my gun on someone only once for being to close to my jeep, my jeep paged my I ran outside of Walmart and some guy was looking in my jeep. Turns out he was just checking it out but better safe than sorry. I would deff. Buy that unit it's pretty nice and I'm sure it would be worth it.

As long as you have the rounded corner stock radio and as long as you are sure that the plugs will work, go for it. It will look really nice!

With state abbreviations, NM stands for New Mexico. You know, like my profile says.

Too bad this thread got hijacked. Who makes the 1.5 DIN head units...? That's a rare find.

I think I have seen them before in crutch field. But like you said it is a rare find. Screen will also be very small

Sorry OP.

I actually think what you found is really cool. I only wish they made it for the older TJs that don't have the rounded corners. I hate the plastic bezel/adapters, they are all cheap and break.

Crutchfield doesn't have them. I'm thinking it wouldn't be that difficult to do a custom fit with an older TJ. But I'm wary of older GPS systems because they might not support it with map updates. But the size is so impossible to find. Is there a spec sheet?

On this site towards the bottom there is a deck with navi that would fit newer tj's. If you want that factory look.

Yeah, might not be to hard to custom cut the plastic dash trim.

I desperately need a new radio and my 1 din bezel/adapter has completely broken so the radio flops around. I'm going to keep this radio in mind for next summer when I'm driving the Jeep again.

Judging by the pictures of the harness this radio has pre amp outs, yes? It doesn't mention it in the description (or at least I didn't see it), but it looks like in the pictures of the harness there are some RCA jacks. If it doesn't have at last 2 pre amp outs that a deal breaker.

The spacer/bracket that converts the 1.5 DIN to 1 DIN is ugly. There's a bracket with a pocket that takes up some of the excess space and looks less unnatural in the dash. But generally speaking, it can be after-market ugly unless you have the skills to customize.

More 1.5 DIN options would be cool.

I'd say this may be a better option than buying an RB1 (which I have) at this point... but I'm hesitant to trust it. What kind of options do you have if it turns out to be crap?

I'm reluctant to buy used unless I can test it first, or unless its being sold for give away price.

Where did you get the proximity paging system and how much was it I would love to do that with my jeep when it sits topless in my driveway.
