"New" 2000 TJ Sahara Manual

Hi all,
I'm the proud owner of a "new" 2000 Sahara manual! I just bought it today. It has 78,000 miles and looks and drives great. I'm brand new to this board and have a few questions. I drove my Jeep home tonight about 60 miles and a few issues came up:
--There is an indicator above the oil gauge that lights up -as an arrow- at about 1,500 rpm's and above. Is this some kind of dorky upshift indicator telling me how to maximize fuel economy??
--the shifter pops out of gear sometimes when I engine brake in second unless I hold it in gear forceable. Any thoughts??
--the gas tank doesn't fill all the way. The gas station pump cuts off even though the tank is not full. Any thoughts??

Thanks very much for any thoughts. As I mentioned, I'm new to this. (My last Wrangler was an '87 which I bought new. It blew apart at the seams 3 years later and that was that). Thank you.

Or you can take the bulb out.

Welcome to the forum. And congrat's on the new jeep.

To help with the "popping out of gear"....does it have a body lift?

Thanks for the welcome. No, there's no body lift.

something like that. I would keep it. Its a good thing to have especially since when you floor it, it shuts off and then turns back on before redline so its like a "high performance" shift light as well.

try putting the pump halfway out, see if that works. Its normal for us to fill that way.

No, no lift as all as far as I know. It does have 31" tires. What does a lift have to do with the transmission popping into neutral when engine braking in 2nd? What else could cause this?

2nd gear is usually hard to hit in that transmission, especially when it's cold.
Take the time to make sure it's engauged well, maybe double-cluch it a little while it's going in.
It may help to change to a slightly thicker oil in the G-5 area.

usually when you add a body lift or drop the transfer case a bit, the shifter ends up being off center and ends up hitting the back. Here take a look at my write up. You can give this a shot even though you dont have a lift.. your shifter might be bend.. anyhow if it works, then take the boot off, if it doesnt work.. you got one possibility out of the way.
