New Build Ideas Coming Together Slowly...Input?

Hey everyone. A few weeks ago I posted a thread on modding my jeep to accept 35's with little or no rubbing on a 2.5" lift. These ideas included a 1.25" BL, the modernclassicenterprises fenders (or similar), and the trimming and adjustment of the rear wheel well/fender flare. Well last night I placed an order for the BL from Rokmen, so the project is slowly underway.

Now my thinking is focused on the axles/gearing. Jerry previously recommended 4.88 gearing for a manual if I were to run 35's. So this being the case, I have heard needing new carriers for the differentials. Is this true and where can I find a new carrier that will support 4.88 gears on a dana 30? Also, does a dana 44 need a new carrier for these gears? Last question, do you need to change anything else with the differential other than a carrier?

Any input is appreciated!

what is your carrier break now? If you have 3.73's and lower your possibly going to need new carriers, if you do then I would recommend saving up for ARB's front and rear with chromo's. Then you are basically bullet proof on 35's and 37's you will be in that gray area also.
4.88's are a great choice I am at 5.13's on 33's and love it. I am going to 37's here soon tho.

ok so with the 44 sitting there rotate the drum one full revolution and see how many times the pinion spins. That will get you the 3.73 or 4.10 etc etc etc. I am thinking the carrier break was 3.73. That being said I do believe you don't have to change it BUT that is caps for a reason-- Your going to regear anyways and pay for it might as well do it all once and right then paying somebody to do it twice. I would hate to see you do the re-gear and pay 1000 bucks for both axles then a year down the road have to pay another 1000 plus on installing new carriers.
