new exhaust-goofy question

I have a sort of goofy question. I replaced my exhaust from the Cat back and both O2 sensors 2-3 weeks ago. The tailpipe I installed had a chrome extension tip welded on, now for the question, and as long as it's normal, that's great.

is it normal for the tips to discolor so quickly, it now has sort of a tarnished look. Like I said, I don't care if it's normal, I just want to be sure it's not running way too hot or something. (If I grab the tailpipe after it's been running, it does kind of burn my hand a little j/k , I'm not that dumb)

(also, has recently had complete tune up, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and a new Crank sensor installed) The plugs the dealer installed are a different number than what's called for, so I want to replace them myself to the stock numbers

thanks for any replies.

John

Discolored like it's turning copper/purple/etc... those colors or black? I've not seen too many chrome tips change like that. Some cheap metal or maybe a really thin chrome coating might do it ? I am not real sure about that one.

Yea probably a thin finish on the chrome. I would not worry to much about it

The purplish color is normal especially if the tip is stainless. Just drive and have fun.

Normal on chrome, especially if it is a cheaper chrome finish. They sell products like blue-way that will make it shiny again if you want to go that route

Yeppers, most of it should wash off... What doesn't can be polished off if desired. Turtle Wax Chrome polish is good and cheap <$2 at Wally's....
