Hey all,

First time poster.. Thanks in advance for your help. The wife and I recently bought an '06 TJ Sport as a fun ride aside from our daily drivers. I haven't had a jeep since 99 which I never modded.

I want to lift it of course and put 33's on it. It will get mostly road miles and maybe some light off-roading if I can find somewhere nearby.

From reading forums and talking to fellow owners, it seems like a safe bet is a 2.5-3" lift with a 1" BL. How does that sound?

Also, in looking at the ungodly variety of lift kits, I am unfortunately scratching my head as to just a spring/shock combo, budget boost or something with control arms/track bar/stabilizer bar etc. I'm not sure what is best and don't want to cause any drive line issues by skimping on a cheaper/smaller kit. I also don't want to break the bank.

I was hoping to keep it at about 3k for wheels/tires/lift kit total. It's old and this is my first one, so I don't need crazy expensive or fancy wheels tires. I'll be installing it myself at my brother in law's who has all the tools :).

Thanks again!

I have 33's on a 3" Zone lift. I did not do the body lift or tummy tuck. My jeep mainly sees the pavement and some beach driving. I am very happy with the setup.

A spring lift offers a better ride in my opinion. My jeep originally came with the budget boost. The ride difference is night and day.

Last, be sure of your gears. I had the dreaded 3.07 gears, so I went to 4.10 and my RPM's are good.

Hope that helps in your decision. Have fun.
