Early TJs like your '98 are awesome, I put a LOT of miles (over 183K miles) on my '97 and wheeled a lot of very tough trails with it. $2k can do quite a bit depending on what you want to do. Do you want to put all of that $2K into offroading prowess or what? What types of mods are you most interested in?

Spend 2g on gas and DRIVE IT! Every where! To the mall ! Along the RR tracks ! Over lowered Honda's with those damn lawn mower sounding exhaust or any front wheel drive car with a rear wing ! Drive it MAN ! Drive it till it breaks ! Or better yet, BREAK IT ! Then you'll need your 2g's to fix it. Just a thought.

Front and rear bumpers (swinging tire carrier on rear bumper), soft top, winch.
I really like the bumpers I've seen mentioned on here a few times lately called "Dirt Worx"?? or something or another...guy fabs them custom and ships them to you. Think he sells them on eBay?....I'm sure someone on here will know what I'm talking about and direct you to the fella. Anyway, apparently his bumpers are really well made and for an excellent price. Btw, thats really nice Jeep man.

If you search this site for " thedirtworx " you will find quite a few threads including mine about his bumpers.

Blank <--- Link to his site

Just remember you can have him customize the front or rear bumper any way you want.

Could do a sye/drive shaft, and adjustable upper rear control arms. That way you can raise your transfer case back up. Looks good though.

For installing that bumper, I hope you have an impact driver. Just installled my new bumper and there was no way I was going to get the bolts off without it. I think it took about 140 PSI to get them out.

I'd go with the stereo so that you (and everyone else) can hear your new Jeep, and I like a variety of tops. You need one for all occasions!

You definitely need to upgrade the sound system, especially once the top is off. You should upgrade your receiver, upgrade the sound bar speakers and add an amplified Bazooka tube. These upgrades will cost you around $300 and it will definitely sound better than what you have!!

Good luck!

Good looking Jeep.
2k over what you have now will be more than enough.
For the pics I can tell that you will start looking for tires pretty soon.
