new jeep guy

hey everyone, just bought my first jeep. 99 TJ, red with black soft top, 2.5L low output/5spd. stock suspension. traded my silverado for it and am looking for more power already. i know the 2.5 wasnt made to be a monster but i know i can get more out of it that what im gettin. any suggestions? to my knowledge the engine is bone stock. that and ive been hearing this annoying heavy rattle just about at the shift linkage and when i was lookin around under neath i noticed the mufflers bout ready to give way. any suggestions on a brand of replacement muffler? i dont want it to sound like a rice burner, but at the same time would like to free up some of the restrictions from the stock exhaust. any help would be appreciated!

welcome to the forum

my suggestion fo rthe exhaust would be this:
http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...007760/c-10108

as for other engine mods, none will really make ur engine have better performance, unless you have bigger tires then you should regear

Welcome to the addiction!

Also I got an Idea for your muffler! Just take it off!

Seriously if you have a 4 banger it will be really hard getting a aftermarket muffler and have it not sound like a honda! You wont be putting out the same noise as your old chevy 8!

I like you already, just stating that you had a 2.5 low output, is just pretty damn creative. Welcome to this forum, and hope you stick around. Great attitude!!!!!!!

click go advanced on the reply box, then go to the bottom where it says something about attachments (i think it says attach file) and click on it, then click browse and find the pic thats saved on your computer, adjust the size of it if nessessary, then click upload.
