Thumbs up New Member 99 TJ I6

Hello all, I finally joined the forum after years of viewing all the helpful threads and advice the jeep community has to offer. I hope I can be of help to any and all..

My TJ:
1999 Wrangler
114,000 original miles
My only modifications tire upgrade to 33inch BFG all terrains and rhino lining to replace old carpet and easier cleaning, also fenders, bumper and top.

Questions about a quote

99 TJ six cylinder manual trans with 114k miles close to new everything engine wise.
I had a head gasket replaced about a month ago after my jeep overheated, i had the cylinder head magnafluxed and resurfaced at a machine shop. i replaced the usual fluids and had it running well untill a coulple days ago when it began a slow crank and rough idle situation as well as stalling when im braking on the road.
I had a family mechanic do the original work at my house and trust his work, but i took it to a garage shop to get another look at it since i've replaced as much as i can (TPS, IAC, fuel injector for cyl #1, and new plugs, wires and distributor cap). Even still i have this hard start, stumble and stall issue. No CEL either, the mechanic I took it to recently quoted $1500 for a "valve job" and basically to do the head work again.
is this a reasonable price?
should i be having these problems if the work was done right?
and will these solve my problem for sure or am i going to be wasting alot more money here?
Im not sure what to do, he said i have 0 compression in cyl 1, 50 in 2nd, and 75 in the third, but all the others are good. ANY ADVICE ON WHAT I SHOULD DO OR ANY ANSWERS TO MY QUESTIONS? IM AT A DEAD END AND CANT WASTE ANY MORE MONEY AND BRAIN POWER, I JUST WANT MY VEHICLE FIXED FOR GOOD.
