New Paint!!

Got my Jeep back on wednesday and I'm still piecing it back together. She finally looks non-ghetto. I was embarrassed to ride it around town and would park far out in a lot if I stopped somewhere.

The color's Royal Grey, sometimes it looks grey, sometimes, black and sometimes a dark green, depending on the light. Pics do it no justice, but I'm pumped up like I have a new car. Been renewing all the parts that I took off prior to paint for two days and she's looking nice.

Edited pics in above. The paint was horribly oxidized, but no rust. The day I bought it (about 2002) it had one little 1/4" spot on the hood. Never thought much of it then, but as you can see it became quite the mess in the end. The windshield was also replaced, it had 3 major cracks and numerous chips. The guy that would normally bug you at the carwash for his magical window repair, would never approach me, he'd get close to my Jeep and then just turn around.

That really is a nice color. I did notice your driver's side tail light is upside down. Not to be picky but maybe the body shop screwed that up! The left tail light should have a clear bottom to illuminate the tag, you might want to check that out... A non-lit tag is reason enough to get pulled over. Did I mention how much I like the color?! LOL!

That looks nice! Now my pig is going on 12, I'm thinking of new paint. Not that I have the oxidation you have, mine is small scratches.

Could be a postal carrier or a Brit, but I commend him for his attention to detail. I was too busy looking at the darn paint.

Ha! You made me look again... No Its the driver side, both reverse lenses should be on the top. The driver's side when installed correctly has a clear bottom with a bulb that illuminates the rear plate. I noticed that JKs are the opposite.

Thanks for the cheers on the paint. As far as the lens, no I'm confused. The only before shot I have showing the rear only shows the passenger side light which has the clear (reverse) on the top. Shouldn’t the drivers side be the same?

Now it's time to take it out and "buff" that new paint job.

It looks fantastic compared to the before! Love the subtle, toned down gray - it looks stealthy.

Very nice. How much did it cost? I'm interested in an exterior paint job.

Cost was $1262 including the new windshield that was $140ish. It includes a 5 year warranty.

InvertChaos, Thanks. That clears it up.

I had that same color on my Porsche, but they called it charcoal gray. Looks great.

Mine is like that too and you can't just flip it since the side light is on one side. My guess is that Chrysler did this on purpose to keep costs down.

This something I never noticed. I plan on installing round lights either way. The ones that mount above the body in the existing holes and no cutting.

This is driving me nuts. I can't find a single other picture out there with a TJ and reversed tail lights except for mine that the OP's.

Google "tj jeep rear bumper" and then view "Images". They're all with the clear side up as far as I've seen.
