New sealed beam headlights or conversion kit

Had one of my sealed beams go out the other day only the high beams work on it, but I was wondering if I should just replace both the sealed or get a conversion kit? Which is the better bang for my $? I can spend about 70 on whatever I get. Thanks in advanced for replies/suggestions!

Technically, I don't think they are. The same store does sell a DOT conversion kit: 7" H6024 H4 DOT EURO CONVERSION HEADLIGHTS KIT | eBay

I'd go with the IPF housings with the fatboy bulbs.

Sealed beam is crappy technology compared to H4

These are nice for a budget deal: Amazon.com: HELLA 002395031 Vision Plus 165mm H4 High/Low Beam Conversion Headlamp: Automotive

Not quite the euro beam but they will destroy any standard sealed beam setup you could find with regards to light throw and the pattern in general.

This is basically the same thing but is supposed to be DOT compliant for just a few bucks more a piece... in case you're in a state that has those silly inspections. Amazon.com: HELLA 002395301 Vision Plus 165mm High/Low Beam 12V Halogen Conversion Headlamp (HB2): Automotive

Hella or Cibie e-code conversions with good bulbs. Worth the $, easily. And no, they're not DOT approved, but so what? DOT-approved sucks by comparison, both from the perspective of the driver AND from the perspective of other drivers. The e-code stuff puts the light where it is needed and keeps it out of the sky, other people's rearview mirrors, and oncoming drivers' eyes.

I used to do inspections when we had them in Oklahoma. I'm assuming yours is the same and you have to get it done yearly. It's pretty easy to swap them out once a year and put the old headlights back in when it's inspection time. Honestly though, I never got down and looked at anyone's headlights to see if they had DOT on them. Most likely they won't even notice, so long as they look pretty much like normal headlights.

Haha yeah I figured as much but I think I'm going to check out the ones on eBay if I can find the dot ones. Seems like people like those ones anyway

Well another question what's better 100/90w or 100/55w I'm guessing that the 100 is high beam and the lower is low beams right?

Sucks to have inspections, I guess.

I'd advise against higher wattage bulbs unless you're running relays and new wire. The factory harness isn't heavy enough to run more than the original 60/55w stuff.

You can get premade relays for not too much money from rallylights (d0t) com, if you'd like to run the higher wattage bulbs and don't feel like making them from scratch.

They might be a tad brighter depending on the age of your existing bulb and condition of the lens. But most likely not by much.

My son keeps shoving the non DOT bulbs in his car and every year he has to change them out because no one will even look at his car with the "attention whore" lights. Just today he failed inspection due to yellow tint on his driving lights.

I had the conversions with hid on them, didn't feel like a jeep and the headlight cracked! So I went with sylvania silver stars and they're actually pretty good

Ha yeah I'm planning on sticking to dot but I would like brighter lights from a conversion kit but don't want to deal with the hassle and cost of new wires
