Question New seat recommendations

Seats on my friend's '99 Jeep are toast... Looking for decent replacements and photos of them installed.

I know that to select seats there is a lot to consider and only the person who will be using them can really decide. He will need to find a place that got them on display and try them out. Nevertheless, if you have one of these and can share photos and your experience with them that would be great.

Many people don't like them because the are made by smittybilt but I like them so far. Reclinable too.

Not to jack the thread but I think your 4-point harnesses are suppose to go through the slots in the seats.

They are 3 point retractables from corbeau. So there is no way to unless the slot was bigger because the 2 side points are connected to waist clip. I still have to adjust them so the retractor is straight. I would have done 4 or 5 points but with the 3 I can move around a bit more and look out the side of the jeep when wheelin

Ah I wondered how those retractable belts worked. I was looking into possibly getting those or the tube that mounts behind the seats. Do you like them so far?

Stock mounts or had to get brackets for those to fit? Thank you!

They also have these... would love them in a sport car, not sure for a Jeep, focus Wachuko, focus!

I'm not sure what the price limit is but I really like these and plan to pick up a set once funds allow: Mastercraft Seats

Yeah I like them a lot difficult to mount unless you have some sort of sport cage or custom one. The retractor is in the stock mount as you can tell to it's a bit sideways. The lap part was the most frustrating because on the inside of the jeep(where E brake is) the only spot to mount was either where the seat mounted to the body or to the actual bracket of the seat. I did the bracket on the seat and then the outside (toward the doors) they are mounted under the retractor. It's hard to explain in words but they kind of sit on your shoulders sideways. Because each side is mounted at a different length. But it's not so bad where it's uncomfortable

Yea I had to buy a corbeau seat bracket for them. Had to drill a new hole in the passenger bracket because the bolts did not line up. But the driver side did. Prob something with smittybilt but w/e (so much for bolt on). The passenger bracket also hooks into spring under seat so the people sitting in the back can pull the lever to the side under the seat and fold the set forward. Like stock seats

Yeah the seats I have are a suspension style(no springs) not sure about the others.
I'm a bigger guy they work fine for me. They sit higher and farther back giving me more leg room than stock did. The retractor acts as if it was stock if you pull them fast(as if in an accident) they will lock up like a normal seat belt would which is nice because you can move around in them.

I'm in the process of taking a welding class so when I get a welder I'm going to weld some thing up to fix the lap strap mounts and retractor.

Other than those minor things they are great.

Let me know it you want pictures of the mounting spots I used.

Thank you all for the recommendations.

Looks like he is more inclined to go with the CORBEAU Sport Seats.

Is it best to go with vinyl or cloth?? What is easier to clean afterwards? Price is the same for either material.

Well... he decided on a different seat from those mentioned here. He went with the Corbeau LG1. We just placed the order for a set in all black cloth, brackets, and a rear seat cover to match. I will post photos when those get here and I put them in.

He also went ahead and got the four IPF lights.

Also, got the fuel door cover installed today.

If you are looking for one in Black, let me know. I had bought one with lock/key only to find out Angel had bought one too... so I have a spare one if you need it.

Got it at the local Jeep shop... Jeepers Den - http://www.jeepersden.com/

If you want a cheap solution, Cherokee seats are identical mounting and the junkyards are full of them.

Oh man! You got an account! So does this mean that I now have to remove your Jeep photo from my profile?

Jaime, I already have a gas cap with a lock. I want the cover without one. Thanks anyway. Welcome to the forum Angel. Talk to you guy later. I am making my wishlist for the jeep, have to get back to it.

Then let's swap with Angel's. He does not have a gas cap with a lock... perfect swap. Let me know.

Installed!! They make the Jeep look like a completely different TJ . I will take better photos during the day, but here are a few after we finished installing them. I like them a lot and so does the owner of this Jeep.

I still need to stretch the rear seat cover a little bit to get it to look better on the corners. This is right after we put it in... some tweaking pending. But the looks is far better from the stock unit!

A few more photos with daylight...

Waiting on another pair of IPF lights to replace the blue lense units it currently has in the windshield mounts... can't wait. Also ordered some handle bar grips, some lights armor, and a black Mr. Grill overlay...

Those look really nice. Just not sure if my "love handles" would pass between those big-a$$ed bumps that are supposed to hold you in!

You have great taste in wheels, too! I love my Black Rock Vipers. Get a lot of looks riding around with those and I love the way they bump out the wheels a little with the lower backspacing compared to stock wheels (sorry for the mini-hijack)

I know you already got seats, but PRP also makes nice seats and have heard they are really comfy.
