New shocks...NO SHOCK BOOTS???

I dropped my TJ off at Tarheel 4x4 center in Charlotte today for new shocks. I went there because in my area they are supposed to be THE Jeep place. They recomended BDS, so i said OK. I came back and there were no shock boots on any of the shocks. They had plenty on the shelf for the BDS shocks. The Jeep rides sooooo much better now! This wrangler is used for on road only, just to go for a ride every now and then, but i feel like I need the boots!

Boots stink. They hold in mud and grime and rust the shocks. I cut mine off last weekend.

Don't use the boots..They hold moisture and dirt. with no boots you can keep the shock rod clean and shocks will last longer..Nobody uses them around where i live

Boots are for mall crawlers, they buy them to match their purses.

Disagree with the no boots crowd and I am DEFINITELY not a "mall crawler". I used to race dirt bikes a few years back and we had front fork boots. Why? To prevent nicks to the fork legs that would tear up fork seals. The same theory applies to shock shafts IMO.

Shock boots will cause more problems than they are worth so be glad they did not install them. That just means you don't have to cut them off.
