New Soft Top!!

OK, I am going to have to buy a new soft top before winter. I dont want any half tops or goofy things. I want a full soft top with new skins for the upper half doors.

So is the Supertop worth the money? (My hardware is like brand new). And regardless of which top I get is sailcloth worth the extra cash? Is it that much better?

I think the replace a top (RAT) from tops for less is a good deal if you have the factory hardware, Do you get snow and stuff where you are? If so the sail cloth may be a better choice becouse I think that one is more insulated.

Out here in Cali we just get a little rain and 32' degrees in the morning i just p/u a rugged ridge for like $250.00 with tint wdo.
have not put it on yet.

I think I am set on either a Bestop Supertop or a Bestop Replace-a-top. in black with tinted windows.

I am definitely doing sailcloth. I just need to know if those of you with supertops like them better than the factory tops..

OEM style is the easiest. Supertop isnt too much worse, but its different. If you got a good oem hardware, get a sailcloth RAT, or look for a OEM used top

I just got a RAT/Sailcloth with tinted windows about 3 months ago. Best money I ever spent on an upgrade. The difference b/w the old TJ top and the new one was day/night. MUCH quieter. Not quite as quiet as HT, but not far off. IMO, the Supertop frame is awkward looking.

I have the Supertop and it does what it's supposed to do. However, If I had the factory hardware I definately would have gone with the sail cloth replace a top.

...or the viking but that's just because I like the design.

When you find the right softtop keep this underneath

I live in Florida and it is crazy hot in my Jeep. I came up with a great soultion to block the sun and reduce wind noise on the highway. It fits perfectly under Hardtops Spftops and Bikini tops.

Please check it out I would love some feedback.

Looks pretty cool spiderweb. I still use my back seat so it isn't very practical but for those not running with a back seat it would be cool.

I ordered the Viking fastback top, it will be here on Wed... I like the fact that the back window and side windows flip into the top for a 2 minute bikini top... we shall see how it does this winter

Do you sell the pieces separately? I'd like to possibly try the "What Wind" under the safari top that I run most of the time...

I just got the Bestop Sail Cloth with tinted windows. Wow what a difference from the Outland I had. Really quiet. Great deal. Well worth the extra money

my 97 had the Bestop Supertop on it when i first bought it.

the top itself was near new and in perfect condition, but it only took 2 days to have it removed and sold on CraigsList. i did not like it at all. the top and doors did not seal and the basic design is terrible. it works if you don't have any factory hardware (which my TJ did not have), but i wouldn't invest any money in it. when you take it down, the frame stays in place in the up position and the canvas just folds back from it. talk about ugly.

i replaced it with an OEM 06 rubi sunrider sailcloth softtop and man is it nice.

i had to buy aftermarket uppers because the person had full doors and didn't have them. i bought some "Rampage" uppers with frames from ebay. they were cheap..and are cheap. the frames are fine. factory style. the canvas part is actually nice. the plastic window is not so great. i certainly wouldn't want my whole top of this quality. they were a good solution at the time because they are less than half the price for the better bestop uppers with frames.

personally, since you have the factory hardware, i would just get a Bestop Replace a Top in the Sailcloth material. the difference from non-sailcloth to sailcloth is night and day. the top itself looks nicer and it is more quiet.
my 2002 TJ's OEM top was not sailcloth and while it was fine, it is not nearly as nice as the 06 sailcloth material.

from someone that has had 3 different softtops, i can tell you this: the Supertop, super sucks, and sailcloth is worth the added expense. non sailcloth is 100% fine if you are on a budget, but at very least, stick with Bestop for your replacement top. their quality is far above any other brand. they are the only OEM quality brand out there.

I guess since i starte dthis post i should have updated it.... In November I installed my Bestop Sailcloth RAT just in time for winter. It has been amazing. I got the one with tinted windows and love it. This top is actually worth more than they are asking for it in my opinion...
