New to the Jeeps

Just bought a 2004 Jeep wrangler sport. Hoping I got a good deal. Anyways, this is my first jeep and just a couple questions. First it is a manual and when I first start of or even breaking it makes a sound, not grinding but just rough. Only happens at low speeds. Any idea what it could be? Plus I'm hearing a clicking noise, just two clicks every now and then but its coming from the passenger side, not near the engine or anything, its just weird. But other then that runs great that I know of and loving it so far.

Welcome to the forum, and congrat's on the new Jeep. I can't be sure on what you are describing, but it sounds like a possible throw out bearing, on your rough start. As to the clicking noise, it sounds like you have a bad U-joint, either in the front axle, or drive shaft. Hope this helps.

Good Luck!

Ok cool. I'll check those out. Got a co worker that has a good friend that is a jeep nut, might have him take a look at it..

Good idea! Better to have a knowledgable pair of eyes on the problem. Faster results that way!

If it only clicks now & then, I doubt it's a u-joint. Do you have the A/C or defroster turned on, by chance? It may just be a relay clicking. Does it click only when you're moving, or does it also do it when you're idling, but not moving?

I believe it clicks when just sitting there. After driving it all day there are other noises I'm hearing that dont sound normal. I've driven sticks in the past and never heard these before. Like a low growl when I take off in first gear. But thats the only time I hear it. But like I said will have someone take a peak at it. Plus I need to learn about these things a bit more anyways.
