New Top

My 2000 Jeep top is in pretty bad shape (the elastic bands that hold the rear window when rolled up aren't even elastic anymore), anyone have any feelings about a good aftermarket top? I have looked at some "BestTop" tops, but I just thought I would put some feelers out there... any and all suggestions welcome!

By far, Bestop is the very best quality top out there. I wouldn't even consider any of the other brands, many use a thinner low quality fabric that just won't hold up nearly as well. I'd get a Bestop "Replace-a-Top" made from Sailcloth, which is really essentially what your TJ came with from the factory since Bestop is the OE manufacturer for all of the Wrangler soft tops. I converted my older OE top which was not Sailcloth (Sailcloth started in 2000 or 2001) to a Bestop Sailcloth top a few years ago and it's really a great top.

When you have a choice, buy American.

Actually, we just got my bro a rugged ridge top for like $230-250 brand new s/h incl.
He's had it on for a few 24's and it looks really good. For that kinda price you can replace it evr 3yrs. and have a good looking top all the time. He's been real happy with it to boot.

I agree totally. I have a Bestop, Bestop bikini, jammer, duster, seat covers and a trail cover. They are all top quality.

I am a believer in the Bestop soft top as well. The new sailcloth tops fit well and are well constructed. Well worth the $$.

I just replaced an Outland top with the BestTop Sailcloth not only does it look better, but it is really quiet compared to the Outland (it makes an outlandish noise). The only place you really might want a top is on the freeway, and that's when they make the most noise, so its really not just about looks!!
