Talking New Top

JUST REGISTERED AS A NEW MEMBER. I'VE READ ALOT OF THE TREADS AND GOT SOME GOOD INFO. YOU'LL DEFINATLY BE SEEING ALOT MORE OF ME.

SO I'LL START WITH MY FIRST QUESTION? IT HAS COME TIME FOR ME BUY A NEW TOP. SO I'M WONDERING WHAT SOME OF YOUR OPIONS ARE ABOUT BUYING ONE? I CHECKED WITH A DEALERSHIP FOR A NEW SOFT TOP FOR A 98 JEEP WRANGLER $1600 WOW. I SEE THAT BEST TOP SEEMS TO BE THE NEXT BEST THING, BUT I DON'T WONT TO BUY A TOP WITH THE HALF DOORS THAT VELCRO TO THE EXISTING FRAME. SO I'M WONDERING IF THERE IS ATOP I COULD GET WITH WINDOWS ALREADY SEWN TO THE FRAME? ALSO WHATS THE BEST TYPE TO BUY I HAD A SMITTYBUILT OUTLAND TOP IT WAS A P.O.S.
WATER SOAKS INTO IT, THE WINDOW STITCHING IS HAS COMPLETLY COME APART. SO I'M HOPING YOU GUYS COULD GIVE ME SOME GOOD ADVICE ON A NEW TOP? ANY INFO WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THANKS,
GOD BLESS

Welcome.. 1st use lower case its much easier to read.vs caps, which means your yelling... Now onto your questions.. Go with the Bestop top.. as I recall they are the supplier for the one's that come on new jeeps.

Welcome to this forum. Glad you found us. Hope you will enjoy your stay here, and there are a lot of great people on this site to help you with your soft top needs. I don't have one, so I cannot guide you in your search. I can only tell you what other people have said about various tops, but would rather they tell you.

Welcome to WF! Glad your here.

I had no idea upper case was considered yelling. It really tempts me to use it, because I hate political correctness. I gotta stay with the lower though. Last time I showed my a** on here, they moved my Jeep to the other side of the forum and I had to walk around for an hour looking for it.

You found it already???? We will have to hide it better next time!

As for the top question, you can't go wrong with a Besttop Sailcloth softtop. They are the best aftermarket top (VERY similar to OEM) that you can get, as far as I know. And I am not sure of the pricing, but it is significantly lower than $1600. Check quadratec.com and 4wheelparts.com for some pricing.

If you have to ask what it is or what it does, you don't need it, and you will need help to install it!

New Top

Thanks for all the info guys. Sorry about the yelling. I still have one more questions about the tops. What type of top can i get with the half door windows already sewn to the frame (doens't velcro to old frame)?

I think you will have a hard time finding these, but I would look into Besttop again for these... I had a set of soft doors on my YJ that had the uppers velcroed (not even sure that's a word...) to the frame from Besttop and didn't have any issues with them in the 2+ years that I had them. They may sell a full upper soft door assembly that has the frame sewn into the uppers as well though, not sure on that one.

Newbe in need of help

my side panel got slashed last night ... I have been all morning trying to find a replacement panel... any ideas? I tried besttops.com but it seemes that they only sell the full kit. Lastly, the wife is always crazy mad when I want to leave the top down over night because it might rain or whatever...any ideas of how to ease her pain?

sorry you were the victim of a "slasher" - I've seen panels for sale on e-bay
.....for your next question, how about a cover: http://www.4wd.com/bestop/trail.asp

welcome to WF

^^^ This is what I would suggest as well. I have a trail cover from Besttop, and I love it for leaving the Jeep out overnight without worrying about rain or dew soaked seats in the morning! 30 second install and 10 second removal too!!!

I agree with everyone.....Besttop!

We removed our factory hardtop for the summer and bought a Besttop Bikinni top with windjammer and tonneau cover for back seat area. By far its the best brand i've seen.

Like FirstaidTJ said, go with a trail cover. Spend the extra couple of bucks on the one she linked. I saved a few bucks and water "resistant" just means it resists letting any wate out from underneath it!

Light rain passed through the bay area one night shortly after mine arrived. So smart ass says hell I'll just leave her out with the new trail cover on. Got home from work that day and spent three days drying everything out!
