New Wheel and Tire Help

Hey everyone

I have a 2006 Rubicon that currently has inexpensive aftermarket rims and stock size 245/75R16 tires on it. I'm looking into getting new rims and tires but I'm not sure what I should get.

I have a 4" long arm lift and I took the Jeep into my mechanic for routine fluid change and he suggested looking into getting wider tires that come out more on either side. (Sorry I'm real new to the Jeep world.) My mechanic is a Jeep guy and knows his stuff but I was unable to talk to him to ask for his recommendation. Any ideas?

Thanks very much!

With the 4" lift, you can look into 33x12.5x15 tires. That will beef it up considerably and give you the width you want(roughly 2.5" taller x 3" wider) You may or may not need to regear depending on your current gear ratio.

Track down a set of stock Moabs wheels and mount a set of 255x85x16 or 285x75x16 tires.

Would it be possible to mount 305/70R16 on my current set up? Or should I stick to looking at 285/75R16?

I fit 285s without wheel spacers and just added a couple washers behind the steering stops. i am not sure about the 305s.

Thanks for the info guys. Do I need to worry about back spacing on wheels?
