New Wrangler Style VS old style

My question to all you jeep lovers is what would you rather have a new body style jeep or the original style jeeps. To me the new jeeps ride to smooth...i know that sounds dumb but I think it takes away from what Jeeps are and the wide stance just not feeling it so I think ill stick with my 99 sport

I don't know if we can call a TJ Old School, but I'd rather have a TJ than a JK... at least for now. I don't hate the JK's at all, they're growing on me. I'm impressed w/ how nice the interior is and would like to have a 6 spd.
I remember the old YJ vs TJ polls back in 97, lol.

I feel ya i should have said JK VS TJ but to me the JK is just too big of a stance and smooth maybe its just cause im so use to the TJ. One thing is though im diggin the 4 door im sick of all my friends complaining of trying to squeeze through my seat...they have 2 options by my a 4 door jk or loose weight

I don't want to come off as putting the JK's down, They are growing on me. And they are a jeep. But they are a jeep for the so called "yuppies" if that's what there still called. Mostly soccer mom's. The majority of the people who buy them do not intend to do any off roading what-so-ever. Not like the one's on this forum who have JK's. Unfortunately they are the minority. As for TJ's i can't consider them "old school" CJ's are old school. As for my 2000 TJ, she rides real smooth.

I don't know about anyone else, but I get the no-wave from the JK owners quite often.

That's exactlly my point. They don't know what they have. They just purchased it because it was what the jones's have.

I may have voted wrong, I like the style of my TJ so I don't know if that is considered new or old school. If I were to buy new I would lean toward a Rubicon even though it is my daily driver.

LOL. I remember when YJs were "yuppie" Jeeps and all real men drove CJs. I guess it's the same story every time a new model comes out. I personally prefer the TJ to the JK at this moment...but I've seen some sweet JKs with 35s that could change my opinion on that matter...especially that lifted 4 door JK that I see in magazine ads every month.

I voted for the TJ but I like my YJ better. My TJ ride is too mushy compared to my old YJ.

cj and yj.

i was in the game in the 90s when the tj came out, and it was the same story. the tj owners were all yuppies, and clueless. i was just talking to a buddy that i wheel with and no one wheeled tj's cuz they were too nice. now i can't believe the jk interior, way too nice to me. but look at it now, this board is mostly tj's, and tj's are probably the largest in number on the trails right now.

My neighbor just bought a brand new sahara JK all black, it is sweet. I want his painted fender flares, lol. He had a YJ for years and he waves at me every morning. I think once it's lifted it will look awesome.

I prefer the TJ, but with kids in my immediate future, I could see the advantage of the 4 door JK. I will probably get both at some point.

W/ my 2 yr old, I'd love to have a LJ. We'd max out at 2 kids anyways, so the LJ would be perfect.

I'll chime in. I drove CJ-5s all through the eighties and early ninties. You know, Levi edition, big lift, dual front shocks, 35" Gumbo Mudders,no spare, side turnout pipes,304 with a Holly dual carb. I never did warm up to the rectangular headlights on the YJ. I drove lifted Cherokees up until this past February when I got an '04 Wrangler X. It's great except for the 3" body lift. I gotta fix that situation. Anyhoos, I pick my TJ as my favorite style maybe 'cause I'm 45 and used to some luxeries such as AC and auto tranny. Now I feel like I'm back in the saddle!

i like the tj waaay better. the jk's have too many creature comforts for me. when i ride in a wrangler i don't want it to look or feel like a luxury vehicle. in all honesty i'd much rather a cj.

I understand the ones who like the cjs more that the tj or jk but to me the JK is way diffrent from any other model as some has already posted the JK ride of which is like a cadillac and a lil bigger stance. to me the TJ and down are true jeeps but yes some will say im wrong the JK will grow on almost everyone i do love the 4 door which will be nice for a family but im single so im stickin with my TJ

I agree the JK is growing on me, but any Jeep before 2007 is better to me.

I like the longer wheelbase but not the width of the JK. I also like the longer CA's and the fact that it takes less lift to accommodate the same tire. There are a number of other things also.
But I like my TJ it works fine.

I agree. A black 4 door on a 3.5" lift with tube fenders sittin on 37's and 20's looks bad ace for a daily driver.

I love em all. From the OLD OLD school CJ-2 to the JK The pictures of the JK's in Quadratec are badass, you can make them look great. I love my 02, owned it since new and will never get rid of it. We looked at JK's before we bought our 09 Dodge Journey. For the family comfort the Journey won out. But I could see adding a JK to the garage a few years down the road, and making the TJ the ultimate project vehicle.
