NEWB here just a question or two

i got my 1st jeep last monday, i got a 06 Golden Eagle. I had been searching for a Rubicon, but the prices were at least 3-4k higher than i wanted to pay. 91-94 YJ Renegade was my next choice but couldnt find one in great shape. I happened onto the 06 Golden Eagle and found it to be a nice compromise. i know it doesnt have lockers, or 4.10s, or a body kit, or a pedigree. i'm really liking this thing, 3.73s make it ballzy and the package itself is not bad on the eyes considering what i paid for it. just wondered what everyones opinion is of them? i figured with 4wheel disc brakes, 3.73s, dana44 rear with anti spin it was closest thing to a Rubicon i could get without spending ridiculous money

Enjoy the Jeep. You can add mods as you feel you need them.

Its a sport model w/ an appearance package that's pretty sweet on the tjs. On the cjs I believe it was a v8 upgrade plus the appearance package.

more than an appearance package, jeep sports came with drum rear brakes and 3.07 gears in the rear dana 35. the golden eagle comes with 3.73s and a rear dana 44 with anti slip and with disc brakes. the appearance is the 15 x 8 gold ravine wheels with factory 30in tires instead of 225/75/15s like sports came with, embroidered seats, decal package. not bad upgrade considering. i have a build sheet with complete breakdown if anybody wants to see what the golden eagle group package got you when added on and the cost.

You are correct sir. The 44 with disc brakes was optional for the sport as well as 3.73 and 30" with ravines. But I've seen quite a few with this set up. Sorry for the confusion. We will go with this instead, its a short lj with an appearance package.

A rocky mountain with a different appearance package then? Im gonna keep trying till I get this one right. Ha. Anyway, you're probably not going to be super impressed with the trac lock. Mine has pretty much worn down to a posi trac at this point. Nevertheless, its a great find and I would love to add a golden eagle to the stable. Enjoy the heep!

Sport TJs came with either 3.07 and 3.73 ('97 TJ came with 3.07 or 3.55), not all Sports came with 3.07. There was no cost difference between the available ratios. A Dana 44 was also optionally available with the Sport and it came with 3.73.

I havent had my jeep for more then 24 hours and already found a service road that had about 6 inches of mud. Had to make sure the 4wd worked. And it worked beautifully.
