Talking Newb Questions.

Alright im new to the the forum and have done some reading around. Last year i got a 98 tj for my 15th birthday. It has a 3in lift and a 1 inch body lift, I just got my new wheels/tires installed. They are 33in tires with pro comp rock crawlers with street lock. I have old man emu shocks all around. And warn front and rear bumpers. And a flowmaster 40 exhaust. Other than that everything is stock, That I know of. Also i have a dana 44 in the front and rear. I was wondering how to tell if i had long arm or short arms? As I dont know how to tell the difference between the two. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum Andrew, it sounds like you have a really nice Jeep. Very likely it has short arms, long-arm suspensions are pretty rare for a 3" suspension lift height. On the front axle, did someone swap out the factory Dana 30 for a Dana 44? The front Dana 30 can, with its steel lubricant fill hole plug, fool a lot of people into thinking it's a Dana 44 and not the factory Dana 30. Awesome on that Dana 44 in the back, that's where the D44's added strength really pays off.

Not a bad 15th birthday present!
When you have a choice, buy American.

hey, way cool on your jeep ! I'm guessing short arm on the lift for the reason listed above. Same on the 30. a 44 would be great, but you can make a 30 live for quite awhile until you elect to upgrade, if you do. Get some pics and get some dirt. I do believe this, you can never go back, you have been bitten by the 4x4 bug now. that is a good thing. (hey my first rig was '58 international......I used to park it behind the woodshop at school to hide it)

If it´s no Rubicon the front shuold bea D33.
If it´s a D44 the cover will look the same than the rear D44 cover.
