Newbie - Looking to buy - basic questions

Sorry if this is already asked. I did search (at least I tried)

Looking for a weekend cruiser, nothing serious. I owned a CJ in the 80's and a TJ in the 90's. Nearly 20 years later, i am looking for a 2nd car.

Thoughts on 4cyl vs. 6 cyl

Is there a buyer's guide - things to look for?

Thanks guys

What year are you looking for that will make a HUGE difference. I ran a 2000 Jeep with a 2.5 rocking 33s for about 5 years only issue was having to downshift to pass. If you are looking to stay in the 90's you already know the 4.0 is the only way to go. Now into the 2000's I would say the 3.6 its smooth and doesn't have the issues the 3.8 is/was having. My 2cents..

Looking for 90's

I plan to stay in the 90's. So the 4cyl changed between 1997 and 2000? I will not be doing any serious highway driving so passing speed will not matter to me. There are some "trails" near here but no serious off-roading either. Just looking for a weekend toy to play with and learn to work on
