Cool Newbie Question

Hello everyone! I just got my first Jeep, I have always wanted one, just never got around to it, so I got a 1997 Wrangler Sport, I am finding out all the details from my buddy (who I bought it from). However to get started I have a few questions.

1) I have a soft top with half doors, can I put a hard top on it? Would I have to replace the doors? How does this work? Any recommendations?

2) What are the rails on the side called? I am referring to the rails to step on to get into the Jeep, this one does not have any rails… I would like some rails, any recommendations?

As you can tell from my questions I am a newbie and know nothing about the Jeep but always loved em, now I need to learn about them… the Body is stock, it does have a lift, I am getting the details of the lift from him today.

Thanks for all your help!

1. yup you can pu t a hard top on pretty easily, you jsut have to find one!
I recommend finding a hard top if it gets below 10 degrees a lot
or if it is REALLY humid and you need the AC

2.steps haha nothing creative, it depends on if you want t go off roading or not, if you do the you want some that are up a little but higher, ill get a few links in a minute

Welcome to WF and the jeep community
the very first thing you should learn is to wave at every other jeep!

Hey man, thanks for the advice! i appreciate it! the rail that you have does it come with the rail and the plastic/rubber piece in between the fenders? thats pretty cool!.... is there one that connects from fender to fender with the same look as the factory fenders?

Looking for Jeep chicks is an added benefit. haha! http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/ak...smiley-035.gif

Thanks man! thats awesome! i may pickup either the one you have, or the one i sent the link of earlier...

Regarding the hard top, i will definitely need one.. do the half doors does the hard top come with a piece to cover it?
for example my jeep is green with tan, half of the door is metal and half is fabric... if i was to place a hard top on it, will the half fabric still be there?

yes it is, you can either get full ahrd doors, hard uppers, or just leave it, here are the options:
fabric but with glass windows

fiberglass and glass windows:

full doors are WICKED expensive new so i would got o a junk yard or something if yo decide you want those, but personally i think that the half doors with the fabric and glass windows is the best option because you can still take thte top part off in the summer
