newborn into jeep world

bought a 97 wrangler sport 4.0. Was wondering what axles came with it. Gears have been changed to 4.56 and it has 33" tires. I want to make this new toy trail ready, strong and also my ride to work every day. any help would be great. thanks,

Tom

Welcome,

Well if it still has the stock axles it would be a front dana 30 and the rear is either a dana 35 or a dana 44 (rare in a 97 though). Post some pic of the axles and we can tell ya what you have for sure.

What's up Hitman76? Good to see another local Jeeper . . . I'm out in the Valley. 4.56 gears for 33s sounds just about right . . . I'm running 4.10s with 33's in my 6 speed with a 4:1 TC and like it much better than stock. As mentioned you probably have a 30F and 35R . . . with 33's you'll probably be fine as long as you don't hammer on the skinny pedal.

well, i will have to wait untill feb for that photo...lol im on deployment right now in africa and man, i wish i had that little jeep. these roads in this rain forest would be great for it. sometimes our big MTVR's have some problems going down the road. thanks for the info and im sure they are stock. i want to upgrade and get it a little higher. She rubs a little. in time it will be good and ready. Thanks again!!
