No first gear...

So I've had issues with aamco, had 4 oz o shavings when I went to replace the clutch, so I brought my transmission to aamco. They said it was a 100 dollars to take it apart and look at it, said if there were issues they could put it back together let me take it somewhere else. Tried to charge me 1000 to put it back together, to replace the seals they broke when taking it apart, but other than that, there were no issues. I threw a fit and they said that's fine, agreed on 200 an they would replace the seals they broke. It took them two weeks to get it back together, with me calling everyday. So I get it reinstalled, and first gear doesn't work. I can shift it into first, but as soon as I let off the clutch it's thrown into neutral. All other gears work. Is this because aamco messed up with a synchro? Or is it something I did in reassembly. Please please help

I would call aamco and raise hell. All you did was R&R it, they're the ones that took it apart.

I would NEVER EVER (!!!!) trust any transmission to AAMCO. Those guys are a quota-driven chain of transmission shops and at least in my personal opinion, are not to be trusted for anything.

I would go back and speak with the manager, telling him that his guy caused a new problem (1st gear) that wasn't there when you brought it in. If he starts pushing back saying it was there when they got it, quitely threaten to make a loud scene in the customer waiting area and if that doesn't work, tell him you'll see him in small claims court.

The whole experience with them has been entirely unpleasant
