No spark

Have a 98 TJ and I am having one hell of a time. I cant seem to get spark when i turn the key it just simply continues to turn over but never actually start. Funny thing though I removed the cover from my starter relay and completed the conection and she fired right up. She does every time this way. After this first happened i did a complete tune up and nothing changed. I changed my crank position sensor sense this seems to be a common problem but no luck. All i can think about is why does she start with the starter relay and not the key. I checked for spark on the ignition coil and i aint getting one. Can anyone help?

If you can jump the relay and it works, the relay must be bad. Replace it.
