Noob Jeep owner

I'm new to the forum and new to the Jeep community. This is my 1st Jeep and it is an 05 wrangler automatic with 71k miles and zero upgrades. Looking to lift it modestly, to accept 31's to 33's and an intake/exhaust. This site seams to be user ffriendly and easy to navigate. From what I've seen ya'll have some nice looking rigs. I'm comining from a Nissan Titan, so it is a big different. I look forward to the knoeledge and know how from all of you.

Welcome to a great site
These guys know their stuff!

By the way, your Jeep will take 31's as it sits without a lift. That's what I'm running

Again welcome,
Tim

Welcome aboard. I am running 31's on '06 LJ right now at stock ride height with no issues. I am going to bump it up a couple of inches just for belly clearance and maybe go to 32's when it is time to replace these. Generally the jump between 32's and 33's gets pricey as you need a little more lift which gets into other things needing to be addressed and with 33's most people re-gear for performace reasons.

Got rid of my '07 Civic Si for my LJ Looks like a lot of people are trading into something more aggressive in the dirt lately.

noob pics

You all asked for them so here they are. Now please don't hit me too hard with the comments, but give me some time and I will have some mods on it. It's good to be on this site. Sorry about the poor quality, but the cell phone was all I had at the time.

You need to do this and this and this and that and the other thing otherwise it's not a real Jeep. Just kidding. Everyone starts somewhere and some people (like me) are on a tight budget (broke ) so things get done very slowly and when money allows.

You have a very clean platform to start with and it looks great. I suggest adding things that you want as you can. Make a list of your priorities and check them off as you complete them. There are a lot of little things that you can do for very little money that will help you personalize your Jeep and make it stand out from the crowd. To give you an example, painting my headlight rings cost me under $10 in materials, a few hours of my time (and my wife complaining about the smell in the garage) but gave a whole new look to the front of my Jeep.

Good luck and keep us posted. There are a lot of great ideas here and things that can be done for very little money. Also a lot of people to answer any of your questions helps a lot too so you don't get in over your head.

welcome to the forums. i went from a titan to a wrangler. the only thing i miss from my titan is the power of its motor. my stock jeep can run circles around a titan in the trials. i didn't notice any improvement in gas milage though. they are about the same. if you used your locker a lot def. look into getting one of the.

And one more thing. when the fever hits you, it will be hard to break! do it in stages and you'll get a better understanding for your jeep and know what works and what doesn't.

I don't see a 4.0L sticker... is it a 4cyl? If so, might not want to go any larger than 32" tires without re-gearing the axles.

Welcome.... I have the 33's and a 3" lift with 1" body. Runs and handles well. It all depends on what you plan on doing with it.

I do have the in-line 6, 4x4 w/auto tranny. My 1st nod/upgrade will be a wheel/tire kit. I am looking for something that is streetable/play-able. Whatever I can fit for now on stock height. I will be going with a 2-4" lift later, but for now I need it to look like a jeep. Thanks for the replies.
