Noob Jeeper! Need HELP!

I just bought a 98 TJ on friday. The speedometer wasn't working when I bought it. I bought a speed sensor today and installed it... It didn't work. So I wired up the new harness that came with it....Still didn't work. I was thinking it could be the pinion gear itself but it got dark and I don't have a garage. If it is the pinion gear what tooth count should I buy for 4:11 gears and 33'' tires??

Im not an expert but I believe that your speedometer is ran of a spedo gear not a pinion gear. Hopefully someone else can chime in to give you more info.

According to the chart, 36 tooth gear for the speedometer gear on a 4:11 with 33's
97 Sahara, 74 Renegade, 72 CJ5, 55 Willy's (the Beast) Boss 302, 6:34 gearing, Bose 901 speakers.
God I miss that Jeep. Forgot the kinda Jeep, 80 SX4.

OK, so I changed the sensor, checked the gear pinion, and checked the wiring to the instrument cluster. Still not working. Any ideas??????
