Normal Damage!

My roll bar padding is in bad shape and I thinkin about takin it all off and just drive around without it. Is there any projected damage to the roll bar without the padding or anything else I would regret later.

Cause its either new padding or none!

I would say that the padding is there for your personal protection. For example entering / exiting the Jeep. I have already clunked my head a couple times in the past 2 weeks I have owned my wrangler and thank god the padding is there. I was planning on taking it off as well but it looks really nice on there.

I would just say just go with it.

Its only for personal protection. My 2005 has 10x more padding than my 97. I ran my 97 without padding or covers for over a year, no ill effects. What year is your Jeep? The newer ones you cant really do that anymore because of the paint. I know 05 and 06 the rear roll bars are primed not painted from the factory (mines one of em) but the older Jeeps are all painted.

I have an 04. I didn't think that there were any negatives to the car but i was just wondering if I will regret anything in the wrong.

As long as your whole roll bar is painted, nothing will happen to the Jeep(not CAR! ) other than a few accidental scratches to the roll bar paint here and there.

To be honest, I would be more concerned about you or your friends getting concusions wheeling than the Jeep. Also, be very careful taking the padding off the roll bars. Its very easy to snap the foam in half, while trying to work the plastic pop-pins out of the bars.

x2

The padding is there to help you without a doubt. You can always touch up the paint but you cant touch up a cracked skull or bruised brain.

My 98 has everything painted white, the outside and the inside tub+rollbar.

it's NOT a car. It's a Jeep.

Seriously though, you can take the padding off if you like. It won't hurt anything, except your head if you bonk it.

Couldn't have said it better, I have hit my head soooo many times, it may just be that I'm 6'2, but still I think the padding is the way to go.
