You'll enjoy it... can be a bit testy sometimes though especially without lockers... Also I don't know what kind of lift you have on your Jeep, but be prepared to scrape the underside pretty good

Oh yea thats a little too far for me right now ha. and yea we go there too. I took my jeep through that mud hole before you cross the bridge right there at the entrance and didnt know how deep it was and almost flooded my engine when it almost died in the water

Hey bud! I'm up here in Boone, basically the mountains haha.
there's brown mountain, hurricane creek, and Richland trail.
I've been to Richland trail fully stock and it wasn't bad at all, until i tried the hard stuff haha. I'm new to trailing so I'm always wanting to learn from the hard stuff.
The mountains always have the best trails

I didnt know they were that close. ill have to see if I can go up there next time im up that way

Yeah the 4" lift would be great, well better than what I was running on my rubicon. I've got a 2.5" lift on 33s so you'll be sitting a little better than me. Really as long as you've got some rocker armor you'll be fine anyways, but I did have some work on my riddler diff cover in the front, scraping of the lower control arms, and the rear shock mounts... I did take some more difficult lines though, but really the Rocky Mountain loop is the toughtest(if you make it that way) and that'll make you land hard a couple times.. I know that Daniel trail has got a couple tough ledges that'll work you pretty good, but overall a moderate set of trails that'll last you at least 5 or 6 hours if done right... and the good thing is they all run in reverse so that's twice the fun. And just for reference... when I went I was paired with an old Izuzu Trooper stock and he made it... it wasn't pretty, but he made it so you should be fine.

Yeah I contemplated taking my xterra through that puddle but never did it, I have seen to many people stuck in it

Yeah I think you're right. But richland is a pretty fun trail, lots of difficulty levels, puddles, rocks to climb and a couple river crossings. I'm wanting to get a few guys together maybe the 23 of march.
PM me your number and ill shoot you a text if anything is decided

Did u go up daniel or did u use the bypasses, cuz daniel when I went has the hardest, had to actually winch up the first ledge cuz couldn't get up it.

I used the bypass, because it was either do that or worry about towing the thing home with the transfer case and tranny laying in the back seat. I've seen some guys take the "perfect" line and walk right up it no problem, but unless you hit that line you're pretty much gonna have to winch up it without some pretty wicked skills, but really the easy way is to have lockers/high clearance skid so you've got traction and nothing getting caught up... and the high clearance is the area I was lacking so, like I said I chose the bypass. I'm excited to get out there in April to see what maintenance has been done while they've kept me out.

Y'all should plan another trip too cause I was talking about it with my girlfriend and she promptly reminded me that we have tickets to a Luke Bryan concert on the 22nd so I probably won't be able to go :/

There is a ride at the Flats in Marion the 20-22 called "down and dirty for life." It's like a relay for life but instead you get to wheel in your jeep. It's 10 bucks a rig and 10 bucks a person and you can camp out and just have a good time. I'm gonna try and go if anyone else is interested

I was going to that with my buddy and his rock crawler but the Glock shooting match in Morganton is the 20th too and I can't miss that. But he went to the last one and said it was a blast.

I went to school at App, but now live in Knoxville. I'd go back to Boone in a heartbeat...

You guys might want to check out NC4x4.com They have a very good forum and do organized trailrides.
