nother noob question

In many of the photos on here I see one or two in the Jeep, and others outside standing..... the outsiders are ...spotters? onlookers?... or just people that jump out and say there's no way in $#@% I'm going over that?
Serious now, is it wise to have an outside spotter?, and what are they spotting for? I can understand for the rock climbing part.

A spotter is a great thing to have when playing in rocks. There is a saying, "God forgives, rocks don't!" This statement is so true.

As for the rest, some of it has to do with comfort level of the driver because they don't want to mess up their rigs. Or the driving though forest trees may be tight and technical.

If you are using a spotter the most important thing is that only the DESIGNATED spotter is spotting. You will have every freaking person shouting directions. Our rule is everyone leaves the spotter alone unless it is to yell STOP because there is something dangerous or damaging the spotter does not see. As for each persons individual preferances how to get you through... keep it to yourself.

Usually 1 (or 2) are the spotters to help find the right line since on rough terrain you can't always see the best place to drive.

The others are usually the people that have already made it thru that obstacle or the ones waiting to go. They are either taking pictures or just want a close look at the rig coming thru.
