NSG370 6spd and high pitched chirp / squeak

Ok, I have read many post on issues with the new NSG 370. For me the 6spd has been flawless in shifting (well at least with the limited miles i have). So was my old 2003 NV3550.

Now I am getting this ultra high pitched chirp sound when the clutch is fulled released. Kind of like a recording of crickets played back a 4 times normal speed. The sound goes away when the clutch pedal is even slightly depressed even a 1/4" or less.

I was used to the rumble sound my NV3550 made with the clutch released. That seemed normal. This new sound in the NSG370 seems like bare steel is scraping at high rpms.

Stats:

1114 miles on the odometer
stock fluids.

Possible causes?????

Throwout bearing
clutch chater with a different sound than I am used to
Me just being over paranoid about little noises.

If this is something that has a TSB, my question now is what problems am I going to run into when I take it in and they see I have an Nth TT installed. I wonder if they will even honor the warranty.

Also, will this cause any damage if I run this awhile before having it fixed?w

Seems like we are having lots of issues with these 6 spds, or is it just me? People around here are blowing trannys up every 20,000 miles, syncos going out at 15,000 etc etc. and they sure are pretty darn noisey.

But you REALLY have to love that 5.06:1 1st gear with a 4:1 transfer case

I had that kinda noise at about 4k miles. It sounded like a throwout bearing to me but I haven't hear it for a long time now and I got 11k miles now. I also had a loud click every once in a while when I would depress the clutch pedal. Another noise I got about 5 x's was a dink dink dink noise that I only noticed when sitting a stop signal. No, it wasn't my blinker but it kinda sounded like that. Someone said it might be a bad injector but I haven't heard it in 6 months.

Beowulf,

I had the exact same problem. The dealership told me they couldnt reproduce the sound. I said bullcrap, get in the Jeep now!

So, I reproduced it for them. They ended up changing out the "clutch actuator rod" whatever that is. The sound, or chirping noise, is now gone.

Hope this helps!

p.s. I have the 6-speed in an 06' X model.
