I've seen some threads and pics of people running a ODBII Bluetooth tool for their cell phone. For those of you who use one, what does it keep track of on the display? And which ones do you recommend?

I have a 2000 Sport and a Samsung Galaxy S5 Active (Android) phone.
Thanks.

I use the Torque Pro for Android (it's only $5 and that's practically free in the Jeep world).

Heres a video about the Torque Pro - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nv13Nc4FXQY

This shows a few different screens

It has a HUD setting that will reflect the device (phone or tablet) image up on to the windscreen

It also has what's called "Track Recorder", it uses your phone/tablet like a dash-cam with the gauges, maps and info you select superimposed on the video.

For the ODBII bluetooth adapter, I use this - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AAOOQJC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You can look at other sellers and find ones that are Prime, but this one is free shipping anyway, maintains the connection well and the refresh rates are fast.

I just got my elm 327 scanner off amazon and downloaded the Dash Command app on my ipad. Works great but I have not had a chance to really dive into it yet. It's going to be interesting with dual OBDII ports. One for the jeep and one for the Chevy 5.3l swap in it.

I would be leary of any product that claims that ONLY THIS WILL WORK.

Copied from the brief description -

ONLY THE BAFX PRODUCTS VERSION WORKS ON ALL VEHICLES LOCATED IN THE USA 1996 & NEWER!
Then at the other end of the description -
1YR LIMITED MANUFACTURER WARRANTY!* Compatible with Android phones Only - NOT FOR USE WITH iOS DEVICES!
To me, and I may be over thinking this a little, but it seems like the ""ONLY THING THAT WORKS ! !"", would work on more than just one platform, but like I said, I could be wrong. :)

Well they do have over 4600 reviews. I just wanted something a little more middle of the road. $8 seems too cheap for an ODB scanner and $100 is too much. I just want something that will be more detailed and provide more information than my instrument cluster.

I figure at $8, if it doesn't work, I'm not out much, if it does work a few times, I've gotten my money's worth. Anything past that is gravy.

I'm not against paying for quality, but if I can get that at a discount rate, why not?

The info it will show depends 100% on what the ECM and BCM are designed to show, the tourqe program has a list of sensors and highlights the ones that are being shown by the computer in the vehicle, the OBD II domgle is the least of the equation.
