OEM soft top won't fit

I just purchased an OEM smitty built soft top and it doesn't quite fit right on my jeep. It fits everywhere except where you latch above the door and behind the door. There is about a 2 inch gap around my door where it is supposed to latch and my last top just strapped around the frame above and behind my door. I'm guessing the framework that is on there is bestop, not sure though. Anyway is it possible to purchase some door surrounds and put them on? Or would they not fit right since I don't have the OEM frame assembly? I can post pictures once I get out of school if you can't quite picture what I'm tryin to say haha.

Smittybilt's soft top is not the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) soft top. Bestop is the OE manufacturer of the soft top.

Yes you can purchase door surrounds for the top to fit around and close the gap, though posting photos of your soft top problem here would be handy to confirm what you're saying.

It sounds like you are missing the door surrounds. The Softtop and rear side windows will clip in the channels of the door surrounds:

What I meant is that it fits the OEM softtop hardware assembly. I'll post pictures of what I'm trying to get across.

Sure wish I knew there was a demand for door surrounds. I had 2 extra pair llying on the shelf in the garage and I threw them in the dumpster last summer.

I just purchased a brand new smittybilt soft top for my 02 Wrangler, and I am having the exact same problem as Rastafarian. So I just need to purchase door surrounds and that will fix my gap between the door and the window? Also, the back window dips in, it's like it's not tight enough even though the top is so tight it almost wouldn't go on. Am I missing a piece back there as well? Because right now rain will just slide right in. Any advice at all would be great!!

You need door surrounds and a tailgate bar. That should solve your problems.

I am not here to knock anyone on here, but did anyone that is having these problems with their top installation even open the instructions? If you did, you wouldnt have even posted these questions. If not, there is a very nice pdf file with pretty color pictures that should help even the most illiterate of you.

Thanks that did help! I guess I'll need to get some. Do you have any ideas about the back window and why it's not fitting right?

Never mind about the back window. Slater, I just read your post, thanks. And yes I did read the instructions, several times and there was nothing in there about needing anything else. And as far as the dealership here goes, they have been no help at all.
