oem steps

my friend needed steps for his 03 Rubicon. So I gave him my oem steps from my 02 sport. Now every thing matches up. but the bolts don't fit. I can not get out the reducers that are in my tj. Dose anyone have any ideas on what we can do?

Do the rubicon frame have any threads where a bolt would fit? I'd find the right size of bolt he needs and then if the holes on the side steps dont align right.. just drill holes in the steps and be done w/ it

There are nuts that are pressed into the frame, do as Triple says and just find new bolts... thats if his Rubicon even has the nuts in the frame. If not, you'll need to go to the dealer to buy them, and then they should come with new bolts.

I am pretty sure they changed from standard to metric in 03, that is why the bolts won't match. you could go to any hardware store and they could run out and match it up for you.

It would'nt supise me if it is the same senerio I ran into with the '06 X (silver). There were no bolts, nuts or fastners in the frame. Purchased the oem side step kit and it came with all the ness supplies to attach them.

As crude as the stick fig. is above it represents about what the fastners sorta look like.

One of the legs is missing in the drawing for some reason, so add another leg to the other side of the stick fig. and u got the idea.

The forum automatically deletes if you have more than 2 or 3 repeating spaces. I use ......"s" and then jus tchange the color of the dots to white or something hard to see. ................
