OEM Tire Carrier Question

Just wanted to know whats the max spare tire size that I can fit on the OEM stock tire carrier so I don't block the OEM 3rd brake light?

You could see the light over my 33 but its easy enough to put a spacer under the bolts.

It wasn't until I got to 33" tires when I felt a simple spacer was needed. It was fine with 32" tires which are only 1" closer to the 3rd brake light than the factory 30" tires are.

My 33 wouldn't fit on my OEM mount.. It hit the bumper. But I have the BFG Mud tires.. They have a lot of tread. Also, it blocks the 3rd break light.. So i'm removing the carrier and going with an aftermarket carrier. and putting the break light in the center of the tire..

I have a body lift and aftermarket bumper so clearance is not a problem. I also got rid of the ugly third light and made one to fit the spare.

I have seen an OEM style mount (I believe quadratec has it) that places the carrier slightly higher. (Note, I am not referring to the adaptor plates that attach to the stock carrier and raise the tire but also pushes it further out. Pushing it out puts more leverage on everything)
