Oh no... I lost my keys...

On my 2000 Wrangler. I must have the coded keys because when I'd try to start it with the extra key I had cut, it would turn off after a few seconds. I'm up at a ski hill and I'm having that spare brought up tomorrow morning, but I don't think it'll work.

I think I've somehow gotten it to work at some point in the past with repeated attempts with the spare, but it may be that my real key was close the chip reader in the ignition.

Does anyone know how I can get the jeep started with a spare? Is there any way around the coded key protection? Will I be able to jump start it with the spare?

Thanks

That would be the only way. The key has to be close enough that the sensor can detect it.

If you could, that would make the sentry system redundant. It is going to require a programmed key to keep it running.

Thanks
You may be able to find a locksmith that can supply you with one.

Yeah if you have the sentry lock then you're going to need a coded key to start it.
