Ohio Jeepers?

Hey are there any offroading clubs or members of this forum that want to do some offroading in Ohio KY or IN? If there isnt a club in the OH/KY/IN area, maybe we can get one started. I'm kinda curious where people go around here. Ive heard of a place called Haspen Acres and Jeep Skool towards cleveland. I'm kinda looking for a place more local. If anyone has any insight where I could go play let me know! Keep in mind, I'm looking for legal places lol

You are a little far from us but we just started a club in the NE Ohio area. You can check us out at www.northeastohio4x4.com. We will be planning several trips soon and you are welcome to hook up with us anytime!

I'm still semi new on here, where are the state by state threads? I'll definitely check them out.

Awesome Gus. I will definitely get out with you guys at some point. I've got a couple buddys that had wranglers before me that may want to tag along also. I'm gonna check out your website tonight for sure!

I think there's a few clubs around the Dayton area, but I'm not involved with any of them currently...I don't off-road...still using my Jeep as my DD and owe too much on it to beat on it...yet.

Haspin Acres isn't too far away... it's located in Laurel, IN which according to Google Maps is just a little over an hour away from Cincy. Never had my Jeep there, but we used to take our quads over there a couple times a year. Fun place...but pretty dangerous since they're pretty lax with their rules. Lots of drunk drivers out there.

Here's a couple videos I made from our last trip to Haspin before I sold my quad just to give you an idea of what the trails look like:

Are u serious? There are people dumb enough to off road drunk?! I dont want any part of that. I think I'll pass on going there. How can they be that lax with their rules? Don't they see that as a liability issue?

Check out www.jeepskool.com. That's where I generally wheel at. Great people, and a wide variety of difficulty in terms of obstacles.

That's where my buddies go. Its quite a drive but they say its well worth it. I'm siked to go my first time. I think I'm gonna go on March 5,6 since you have to do that class the first time you go and they only do it the first weekend of the month.

If you ever go to Laurel, you'll understand... their Welcome to Laurel sign is located in a graveyard if that tells you anything.

It's pretty much redneckville...when we were riding there, we never had any issues with encountering drunks, but speaking with some regulars that go, they warned us to be careful because toward the evening hours, people get out after partying and start getting pretty crazy. Lots of wrecks and stuff happen there.

They do have rules against driving drunk I think... as well as driving after dark and riding without helmets (for quads/dirt bikes), but it's a family-owned place and I think there's one guy who cruises around in a little pickup trying to enforce the rules. Basically people wait for him to drive past, and then hit the trails. I get their newsletter and it looked like they were looking to hire on some folks to help out with enforcing the rules so they may really be cracking down on things, but last time I was there they were still really lax.

It is a pretty sweet place to go if you're a partier though...just gotta be responsible about it. Go out, off road all day, come back...light a fire, kick back and drink until you decide to pass out. Last time I was there, it was $15 to get in and that included camping until 9am the following morning.
