I use Quaker State 5W30 and an AC PF53 filter on my 04 4cyl 5 speed. I change it every 3K and now have over 60K and never had to add a drop of oil between changes. Did that interval on my YJ and never had an internal problem and after 200K it was still running with NO oil consumption. In fact I used that interval all my life on every car I owned. Gave a 98 explorer to my son with 200K and it had no problems either.

I like the mopar filters myself. Stay away from fram, they have a bad rep. I also pour a bit of oil into the new filter and coat the gasket with oil before I put it on.

I think I am going to switch to Mopar also, I an get the wholesale from the dealer my company does business with. I have always used OEM, but you cannot find Mopar in an auto parts store but you can find AC and Motorcraft. But Motorcraft does not make one for the 4cyl tj. I understand they are not bringing filters in from china. Not for me.

Another good brand of oil filter is the Purolator PureOne. Oil-wise, I tend to stay with proven oils like Valvoline 10W-30 or 10W-40 for the 4.0L engine... or 5W-30 in uber cold conditions. I'd only use a synthetic motor oil if I lived in the great frozen north (luckily I do not) where synthetics are absolutely the right choice.

I think I used a Mopar filter and whatever oil was cheap. I usually change my oil every 20 thousand or so miles. Ive only done 1 oil change since I got it 2 years ago.

Is there a reason you do it so often? Why don't you wait for 50k miles. You would save a ton of money.

napa premium 10-30 and a napa gold filter will be fine.....dont buy into all the high priced oils also dont buy the cheapos....synthetics will not do much for you so i owuldnt spend the money.....and frams have a tendency to rust fairly early and their gaskets leak at times....any other filter from any other supplier should be fine

There, got it. Now, imagine the weight reduction you could gain from just getting the dang fluids outta the jeep! Dry weight on a jeep just HAS to be like a couple hundred pound less...think of the gas mileage savings!!!

I think all the trash inside would make up for it. 85 coffee cups and 200 empty packs of USA Gold Light cigarettes gotta weigh something. Dont forget a newspaper everyday since 2007
