what should i do?
should i be concerned?? should i go back and have them put 5w 30??

What does your oil pressure say ?
Only thing I would be concerned with is a faulty oil filter . Does happen yet very rare .
I managed an oil lube once for a few years , never had one there over 100k changes easily .
Last year I had a Fram that was bad , I didn't believe that was the cause till a friend changed it cause I refused to believe that's what if was .

ill have to check the pressure gauge. they put quaker state semi synthetic high miles only thing different is brand i beleive. I ussaully run 5w 30 because thats what the original owner used in it.
DO you think it just needs to work the oil into the motor?? or should i go back and have them put 5w 30 I'm worried because im taking a road trip sunday.

Came to realize he never changed to filter..

Oil doesn't "work into the motor"; it's in the motor all the time. It's not likely the change from 5W-30 to 10W-30 caused a "knock" to begin. I would be more concerned with something impeding oil flow. Your last line is very ominous; who never changed the filter? The previous owner or the shop that just changed the oil?

I'd take it back let them change it again ( free flush ). If they didn't change the filter with the oil change .
If you always baby the Jeep 5-30 be just fine year around .
Me personally unless it got -10* in winter I would run 10-30 year around .
I just changed mine today because I had not since I bought my newer jeep and your thread reminded me . I used Mobil 1 . Mine knocked at idle for about 30 min then went away . I found that odd yet not concerned .

If this happened to me, I would make sure the oil filter is fitted and sealed properly, and of good quality. Unplug the battery for a few hours..drive for 20-30 minutes or so (as long as nothing is getting worse). Shut off for a bit and run again to see if problem persists. If nothing has improved I would make some calls.
