Oil filler cap trouble

Does anyone here know why my oil filler cap is just clicking like a ratchet? It wont turn to come off and no matter which way you try to turn it you just get clicks.
Is there a trick to getting it off when this happens?
I am supposed to leave for a trip in 5 hours so its kinda important to know.

I will continue to search as well.

Mike

If the engine is hot they can be a bugger. Let it cool down and it should come right off.
If you are in a hurry, toss a bag of ice on top of it.

If the plastic tabs are busted off on the inside, you can wedge a screw driver under the outer shell and pop it off. That will break the plastic bit, but leave a metal plug behind that can be removed and reinstalled just fine with pliers.
