Oil Pressure Gauge Woes..

2005 Wrangler, 4 cyl. Oil pressure gauge read 0. Check gauges idiot light comes on. Check oil, quart low. Fill oil, turn Jeep on, gauge reads zero. Turn Jeep off, turn back on, oil pressure on gauge reads fine. This has happened three times today as I stop and restart the Jeep. Any Ideas????

This is happening to me also. I have a 02 TJ 6 cyl. My guage also dropped to 0 and the warning lights came on, I checked the oil and it is fine. This usually happened when I came to a stop but it is like this all the time now. Starts up at around 20 psi and then drops almost immediately to 0 and stays there. It had always been rock solid at 40 until this started happening. Any suggestions?

Man this must be an epidemic! Mine started that today also. 97 TJ got in this morning it's on 0. Oils low add a quart at advanced. Still nothing start it up to goto the bank. Light kicks off but needle is barely over 0 and stays there.

This happened to me as well, 04 6cyl but I just changed the oil pressure sending unit and hasn't happened since. I think it cost under $10

Buy an OEM switch, a lot of the crap in the auto parts stores are from China and are junk. You get what you pay for.

It should be on the side of engine block it is threaded into block and should have a wire going to it

Thanks for all the info. All the sensors seem to be dying on this little beauty lately!

I had changed oil pump and sender and it shows about 20 psi when it gets hot but drops to 0 when I stop. I have been driving it for better then a month like this and that is with 6psi when the guage drops to 0 and the check guages light comes on. 02 tj sport. Dave Twombly Fla.
