Ok... SO here is my idea!

Just like my last Tj, I never used the rear seat... Just not a fan with the lack of room with it in and I never have more than 2 people in the Jeep. Most of the time my dog is chillen in the back.

This is what leads to my problem. I dont have ANY room for storage and when I take my door tops off my dog is always stepping on them. I was thinking to make a small storage box on the floor for the door tops/ whatever else that his bed can go on top of.

If I ever want to put the back seat in I would make it so the top of the box can come off (just sandbox like frame left on the floor) and the seat can go back in but I am wondering if I can move the back bracket up a bit to make room for the storage box. I know the back seat sits on the floor and all the back bracket does is lock the back of the seat up..... anyways does this ?? make sence to anyone.... Let me know what you think...

Personally I wouldn't alter the mounting of what I consider to be a safety device... FWIW.

Tuffy makes a large box that mounts under the seat, and I believe the seat mounts to the top of it (I'm not 100% on this as I've never seen one in person). and I don't even like that idea.(if that is how it works)

Hum... ok Maybe I can just make a hole in the wall so the seat can still mount to the stock location. when the cover is on you wont be able to see/get to it anyways...

That's what I'd do. I have this fear that I'll jack with a seat/seat belt, and someone else will die b/c of it....its at least 50% irrational. but I figure I'll just avoid that problem.

Check out my profile to see how I solved the door storage problem. It might give you an idea. BTW, I had a CON-FER steel storage box that was designed to mount the seat on top of because the top had channels to strengthen it on the inside. It was in my 80 CJ5 that I had for 20+ years and never had a problem.

I like Kawi's thing. But you could just get one of those shelves that mounts to the roll bars and gives you room to store stuff underneath. Put the dog on top with some cargo nets and all would be good... I know what I mean, and if you could read my mind, you would be an exceptional person... Someone will know what they're called (maybe)
