Old Jeep New Soft Tops ?

Just a question. Is it possible to get the newer soft tops on our TJ's?

I have a '98, with a frameless Bestop. It is in ok condition. But I am having a hell of a time getting it on and off (Damn maryland weather can't make its mind up).

If the time comes to get a new top, I would prefer the newer kinds that appear to be more like a convertible. Where you just fold the frame / bars back to the trunk area.

Is it possible to get them on a TJ? Do they come in the frameless style? (Fastback look).

It sounds like you're talking about a regular soft top. Bestop makes both the Supertop NX, which is identical to the factory top, and the regular Supertop, which has a different design altogether. I have the Supertop on mine and it's a good top.

A bit confused with what you have and are trying to ask:

- frameless Bestop. It is in ok condition. The original Bestop frameless (Trektop) only came out several years ago. How is it only in OK condition that fast?

- The "convertible" is the OEM top. (The Bestop Supertop NX folds as well does the Classic Supertop and Pavement Ends ) These are all TJ tops

- "Is it possible to get them on a TJ? Do they come in the frameless style? " Convertible tops are not frameless and frameless is what you said in the first place

That does look like what I was explaining...I imagine Frameless is not available as one would need a frame to make the "fold back" feature.

Ty Neil, yea just wasn't thinking as I asked the question been a long week. Thanks both of you.

I'll attempt to get a picture but the plastic clips that connect the top to the tub are starting to peel from their stitching. I assume a marine shop can restitch this but it makes putting the top on tedious as I do not want to rip more cloth from clip.

I have the Bestop Supertop on my 98 and am quite happy with it.

Here is what I was talking about earlier today.

Below: the plastic anchor is peeling away from its stitching, as well as has split in half.

Each time I take the top off and put it back on I fear I am further worsening the condition. Not really sure what to do to sustain it.

Take it to a good boat upholstery/cover shop, they should be able to fix it up for you I'd imagine. My brothers ex does that stuff and can fix anything covers/tops/related lol

You should be able to get what you need. I have two besttops (one still in a box) but I'm not sure I like them as well as stock. The half door windows don't seem to hold out water as well and the top itself doesn't fit as well as stock.
