I bought a 2.5" coil lift with blisten shocks. Im wondering if the springs sag at all?
Main reason I have 31's and to me they look too small for this size lift.
Im thinking the 2" BB fits it better and has the look Im after for this size tire.
I thinking on going this route and selling off the springs but keeping the shocks to compensate the 2" BB.
Do you have heavy bumpers, hard top, etc? I believe the OME kits are designed with heavy ARB stuff in mind.
And don't they have a light and heavy duty kit?
So far what I plan is just keeping it stock with some light accessories added. I have factory bumpers and a hard top on it. Nothing heavy. The guy I bought it from said the rear springs are medium duty. I guess to compensate for the hard top?? I was planning on putting the soft top back on for the summer though.

Im not sure I bought it thinking it was going to be 2.5" and thought my 31's would be large enough for my liking. Until I didi more research. It was kinda an impulse buy since I didnt want to pass the lift up. It was a decent deal from what I gathered at the time. But now Im re-thinking it. lol!
The 31s dont look small you are just used to seeing it setup different
I wouldnt worry about it, maybe upgrade to 32s when the 31s wear down.
I def wouldnt want to downgrade from OME springs and Shocks to a BB
I was thinking about installing it and seeing what it looks like but after reading a 2.5" lift is a bit higher due to the extra weight for add ons I started to rethink it all. I dont plan on wearing the 31's out anytime soon even though they are used. So waitin to wear them out will take forever. lol! I really would prefer to set it up to how I like it then look at it the way I dont. lol! I might keep the coils on the side and try a BB for the time being??? Not sure. I figured I would ask more questions and find out more. I would love 32's but just out of the budget plus wonder if they would rub???
Real measurements will help tell you what is actually going on. How much lift are your springs providing? Measure your springs. Factory was 12" front, 8" rear. The actual lift height a spring will provide is entirely dependent on the weight of the Jeep compared to the spring's length and rate.
Another thing to keep in mind is how much suspension travel you have. Factory was roughly 4" up/4" down. That is a good minimum baseline to maintain when you modify the suspension.
Thank you for this. I wasnt aware of it. I got the spring info off the box but didnt get a chance to measure it yet. Will do tonight. I do prefer to keep it close to stock but I thought at least a 2" or 2.5"(at that time) would be sweet. Kinda doubting on the 2.5" now.
Exactly which springs are you talking about?
The only OME spring that is advertised (by ARB) to provide 2.5" of lift is the rear 2941. (In my opinion, the 2941 spring is too light for anyone but a horse jockey riding solo in a 4 cylinder model.)
Okay the numbers off the box are as follows: Front say OME 933 (2933) & the Rear say OME 942X (2942x) Seller said the rear were medium duty.I assume that is what the X is there for? Not 100% sure though. ANy help would greatly be appreciated. I will also have the measurements on the front and rear coils later tonight.

I have the OME springs with Bilsteins also on my 2 door. The ones I have are the medium duty 2.5in that came out of my buddy's JKU. He's fully loaded up and had about 2-2.5in lift from them but when we installed them into mine I got about 3.5in of lift. OME are under rated from what is advertised but I got to say the quality and ride is awesome
Thanks for the link. I googled but couldnt find that exact info. Quadratec only offers a drop down box asking what you want 2.5 light load or 2" Medium Heavy Load. No other specs that I saw.
I rechecked the sellers notes and he says its 2.5" lift. He had JK axles.
Can this be used on a JK as well?
If so,would anyone know how much lift it would add if its a stock JK? Im not sure what the weight difference is between the TJ and the JK (soft top).
IF I went to a 2" BB for the TJ would keeping the Blistein 5100 shocks be wise or would the stock shocks be capable of handling it?

JK axles on a TJ? The axles in and of themselves won't matter as far as ride heights are concerned, assuming the custom mounts were comparable to a stock TJ. What matters is the sprung weight, meaning the weight on top of the spring.
I'll tell you this, I first calculated my sprung weights using OME coils several years ago. you can do that with a linear rate spring like OME when you know the length and rate.
Put the springs in and see what they do. Take measurements and do the math. Once you have that data, you will know exactly what you need to do next. Also, don't be afraid to use a small spacer to fine tune the ride height.
Im not totally sure since all the PO mentioned was he had JK axles. Not sure if he owned a JK or like you mentioned TJ with JK axles??? I just saved all his info since I knew it would be some time before I installed the kit.
Would you happen to have a link to a video that would help me out with how to figure all of this? Basically do ya know off hand of a website or YouTube vid? Im just a newbie so Im kinda lost on how to tally all of it up. If not Ill do a search and see what I can find. I figured I would ask ya frst since ya never know. Thanks for all your help. I greatly appreicate it.
@Waterdog has a good pdf on how to loosen the control arms and pull the springs. All you need is a floor jack, 2 jack stands and a good set of wrenches. I forget what kind of socket is used on the factory front sway bar. I think it helps to disconnect that. Your first time through might take a full day.

Thanks for the tips. I figure it may take me longer than someone with experience or that is use to doing it. I have it on jack stands now so I have those and a floor jack. Tools? Well lets just say they work. loL! Hopefully they'll do this job for me. So far they havent let me down.
I know some of the bolts are rusty so Ive been using Power Blaster on them for some time now. Not sure if its helping. I had to pull the gas tank and clean up the skid plate last year. Those upper shock bolts were rusted up pretty bad. And yet they didnt look too bad??? Using grade 8 with a washer and lock washer for replacements now.
Thanks EatTacoCatTea, So far its just a stock TJ. Just got 31's for it and have the lift on the side for some time now. Getting ready to install but before I did that I wanted to research more after reading about alot more stuff I had forgotten about.
Thanks Bad1nfluence for clearing that up. I understand your points and they are taken.
It depends on what springs you get. OME has LD, MD, and HD springs. Depending on how your Jeep is setup should let you determine which is better suited to your situation. To save the hassle, I highly recommend contacting Dirk at DPG Offroad. He specializes selling OME products and knows what springs are best suited for your Jeep.
Example) I currently run an HD OME suspension ordered from Dirk on my TJ. I don't know the exact numbers on the springs but they are ZJ front coils and HD LJ rear coils to help accommodate my extra weight. After being broken in, the lift sits at around 2.5", exactly what I wanted.
From others' experiences, I would say the general consensus is that OME springs are some of the best on the market. Expect a long life out of any OME suspension parts
I second that reference to Dirk at DPG Offroad! I went through him with my OME springs and Bilstein shocks for my 06 Rubicon. He asked me in depth what I wanted/needed and helped me put a kit together. I have not found any decrease in spring height and I've put bumpers and a winch on the Jeep. these were all issues we discussed so all that to say, the guy knows his stuff!
Its always best to get the information from a creditable source with experience like he has...
I saw this and had to chime in, I have had the OME 2+ Heavy lift on my JKU with Full skids and steel bumpers and winch, and all the Cr-- I carry to Overland for two and a half years, no sag...I know some parts are different but I also have their shocks too. The two others of our group has the same set-up and they are not having any problems, mBut A guy I know with a Taco is having his OME sag.
