On-line Salvage Vehicle Purchase

Has anyone ever purchased a SALVAGED vehicle online to use as a donor vehicle? Is there anyone familiar how it works. It seems you can put a "REFUNDABLE" deposit down to bid on any vehicle. But after the "auction" closes, other entities still have a chance to pick it up? Seems a little skewed... Still trying to figure if it's worh it. I've got some MAJOR purchases ahead of me...

I have done it to get some good parts, I have never any trouble with it. and its not much different then going to a pick and pull. just my .02
