I used a homemade overhead hoist for my hard top for a couple years but even with that it wasn't exactly easy. Get this... one day before I started a new job that was a highly visible position, I was lifting my hard top off with the hoist. When it got high enough to clear the rollbar, it swung around and the front corner popped me good just below my right eye, giving me a nearly immediate huge black eye. I showed up at the new job Monday morning and had to be introduced to everyone and give a talk to most of the employees with a big shiner. It was embarassing to say the least.

And having taken the hard top off and then reinstalled it alone without a hoist, I'll just say never again.
