Opinion. To fab or not

Hey yall. I just picked up a Garvin ind. Wilderness rack for $50.00 off of craigslist. It is for a YJ. I talked to Garvin today and new legs are going to run $150 for the front and $200 for the back. Ive got a set of kc light mounts that im not using ive thought about cutting and welding from legs onto them to mount to the winshield hinge and adding some tubing to the rear and mounting to the bumper instead of to the body of the jeep. So what do yall thing spend the $350 for new legs or fab it to make it fit.

Thanks.

If I had the skills to do it myself, it would already have been done. Like you said there are a few things that would be handy to add right into the legs since everything seems to bolt into the same hinges. Windshield light brackets, mirror brackets, a place to mount the rear legs other than the tail lights (since some of us run LED's.) Fab it yourself and make it do what you need it to do. Then teach me how to do that also

Im gonna get started on it tomorrow. One question is how high off of the top should I put the bottom of the rack?

Haha. I'm just bugging. I work as a machinist and I see complacency all the time. What's even all wrong with the hand?

I only use Flexovit Razorblade cutoff wheels, they are pricey but you get what you pay for.
Another thing to remember, never ever use a blade if it has become damp or wet, even if it has dried you are looking at a blade failure every time.

I remove the grinder guard because it acts as a guide to shot the blade right back at you it is only the so u don't cut your self not to protect from blade braking... Wear welding gloves when using grinder...

Isn't the guard typically facing the other way (protecting hands)?

If you have the sound bar, make sure it clears.

Sucks about your hand...same thing happened to my buddy this year with one of those 2" cut off wheels in a air tool...it exploded and damn near cut two of his fingers off....his face caught a couple of shards. He's healed up now ...but WOW , what a close call.

I bought a CL Wilderness rack with hardware for $200. The top to rack space stock hit my best top....therefore I added 1 1/2" nylon spacers between the rack and legs. If you need any dim's let me know too.
